Samatè
Chardonnay
Blanc de Blancs: 12.0% Vol.
SAMATE’ takes its name from the dialectal appellation referring to the town of St. Matthew where we anchored our origins. It is made from Chardonnay grapes harvested by hand exclusively from estate vineyards. SAMATE’ is the result of our compelling challenge and constant quest for excellence in the Classic Method. Elegant scents of peach and pineapple are complemented by citrus aromas and notes of yeast and toast on which are grafted subtle aromas of toasted hazelnut and butter. Fine perlage lends refined effervescence to the palate enriched by exquisite minerality that lingers elegantly after swallowing.
ORIGIN
The Chardonnay grapes used to make SAMATE’ come from the vineyard “Val d’Oca” ” between San Matteo and Sabbioni, in the province of Mantua in Lombardy, in that tongue of land that, flanking the Oglio Nature Park, wedges into the Po River. The soil is characterized by the deep layer of alluvial sediments of a clayey nature that ensures its high water retention capacity and constant supply of nutrients. The presence of a delicate surface limestone vein requires the vine to make selective and delicate root uptake. The intermediate climate between oceanic and Mediterranean in conjunction with the most passionate care of the vineyard constitute key ingredients for a wine of balanced structure and exquisite minerality.
To the eye
SAMATE’ has a brilliant straw color with golden highlights. The bubbles are subtle and persistent, creating an effervescent experience from the visual aspect.
