Patrizia
CHARDONNAY
Orange Wine 13.0% Vol.
PATRIZIA is a tribute to the ‘passionate sweetness and extraordinary character of my sister with whom we embarked on our winemaking adventure. It is made from hand-picked Chardonnay grapes from estate vineyards. Prolonged maceration on the pomace is followed by a meticulous aging process in French oak barrels. PATRIZIA is characterized by vibrant amber color, elegant olfactory breadth, complexity and refined freshness.
ORIGIN
The Chardonnay grapes used to make PATRIZIA come from the “Val d’Oca” vineyard among San Matteo e Sabbioni, in the province of Mantua in Lombardy, in that tongue of land that, flanking the Oglio Nature Park, wedges into the Po River. The soil is characterized by the deep layer of alluvial sediments of a clayey nature that ensures its high water retention capacity and constant supply of nutrients. The presence of a delicate surface limestone vein requires the vine to make selective and delicate root uptake. The intermediate climate between oceanic and Mediterranean in conjunction with the most passionate care of the vineyard constitute key ingredients for a wine of extraordinary olfactory breadth, balanced structure and exquisite minerality.
To the eye
PATRIZIA has a vibrant amber color resulting from prolonged contact of the grape skins with the must during fermentation and subsequent long aging in barriques. By turning the wine in the goblet, you can observe the formation of thin tears along the walls of the glass indicative of refined structure.
Nose
PATRIZIA has a unique flavor profile with delicate notes of dried fruits, nuts, hazelnuts and almonds to which are added hints of citrus fruits such as candied oranges and lemon peel that give a fresh and lively note to this Orange Wine. Spicy notes such as ginger and white pepper are accompanied by oxidative elements that open toward toasted hazelnuts and caramel.
On the palate
The prolonged contact of the skins with the must during fermentation gives PATRIZIA a tannic structure and full body, similar to red wines. We discover an elegant and balanced palate between the softnesses resulting from a long aging process in French oak barrels and good acidity that give PATRIZIA liveliness and freshness. Persistent intensity and refined minerality embellish the elegance and become the object of sensory research of this Orange Wine.
